Ever since I became one of the many remote workers or am travelling to see a client I may need to take a call so the need for a pair of high-quality headphones has never been more important. In this review, we got sent the Edifier WH700NB ANC headphones that boost features like:

Unboxing 

 

Edifier has packaged this in the standard packaging you expect from a brand like this. Inside the packaging, you are provided with the USB-A to USB-C charging cable and user manual.

The only thing I feel is missing especially as I got sent the Ivory model is a carry case when not using the headphones to prevent them from getting dirty or damaged. 

 

Design/Build Quality

 

My first impressions of these headphones are just how sleek and stylish they look. The headphones also come with a foldable design that offers durability and allows you to fold them up and place them in your bag when not in use. 

These headphones are also very lightweight weighing just 420g meaning you can wear them for long periods without any discomfort.  You will also notice the over-ear design is complemented by skin-friendly cushions and a soft headband. I received the ivory colour and was pleased to see that the level of sophistication allowed me to use these when just chilling out in the park or when I had to take an important work call.

In terms of controls like many headphones, everything is placed on the right earcup you have the volume/track control buttons on either side of the multifunction button.

The multifunction button is also your power button but also is your play/pause, smart assistant and call control. Under the 3 buttons is a separate Bluetooth button which is also your ANC switch and allows you to turn the ambient mode and gaming mode.

Under the buttons, you will also see the USB-C charging port and built-in mic. 

Battery Life & Connectivity 

 

When looking for a pair of headphones battery life has to be on the same level as audio quality and the WH700NB does not disappoint in offering 68 hours of playback on a single charge with ANC switched off. However, switch that ANC on and you will get a respectable 45 hours of playback. Additionally, they also support fast charging where a quick 10-minute charge will provide the user with 8 hours of playback perfect if you forget to charge these fully. 

 

Moving to connectivity these headphones are connected using Bluetooth 5.3 and they also offer the user dual device connectivity. What this is it allows the headphones to connect to two devices simultaneously. Perfect for those who work from home and want headphones to be connected to both your laptop and mobile ensuring they never miss a call or notification. 

Sound Quality

 

The Edifier WH700NB is equipped with 40mm dynamic drivers that are coated in Titanium. The result of doing this delivers crisp highs and a deep bass. We have been testing these for a few weeks now listening to a wide range of music. The sound profile is well-balanced, providing an immersive experience when listening to music or watching the latest episode of your favourite show. 

Call Quality

 

These headphones use an advanced AI algorithm and a single microphone with DNN noise cancellation and this boasts crystal clear call clarity. This feature isolates your voice from background noise, ensuring clear conversations even when you’re travelling. This was very helpful when I was taking Microsoft Teams calls for the day job it provided clear calls so the client I was talking to had no issues hearing what I had to say.  

App Integration & Customization

 

The Edifier WH700NB also has the benefit of using the Edifier Connect app which gains access to several customizable settings such as adjusting ANC levels to EQ presets and even switching on the game mode This app allows you to create a personalized audio experience. The consumer will be pleased with their control over how they listen on iOS or Android devices.

One feature I did like about the app is the section where you can listen to several pre-recorded soothing sounds ideal if you want a little bit of meditation at the end of a long day.

Verdict

 

The Edifier WH700NB headphones tick many boxes when you consider what is important in a pair of headphones from the sound quality, battery life, comfort and the ANC. If I had to find fault the bass is not the punchiest on the market but you would have to spend more when you consider them high-end competitors. 

 

Overall the WH700NB hit the right balance between affordability costing only £39.99 and offering excellent quality. I was also pleased with features such as Bluetooth 5.3 and dual device connectivity meaning these are perfect to use all day long.
