Here at What Gadget, we have reviewed all sorts of tech but when Grid Studio approached us with something completely outside of the box how could we refuse?
Grid Studios believes every classic device deserves to be framed. They have offerings from the very first iPhone to something a little different in the shape of a PSP or Nintendo Gameboy Advance they have something for every tech fan.
The Grid Studio website is very well laid out allowing a customer to navigate between categories with ease. I was very impressed with the range of Apple products as well as gaming devices. If I had to find fault it would be the lack of non-Apple phones on offer but this looks like an area the company are turning its attention towards.
In this review, we focus on an old favourite in terms of Apple iPhones the iPhone X which was launched in 2017. When the iPhone X frame was sent to us the unboxing experience added to the overall experience. The frame was wrapped in a very stylish black paper adorned with the Grid Studio Logo. There was also a wax seal to keep the packaging on tightly.
The iPhone X has its design spread beneath the see-through acrylic layer with each part of the phone placed on a printed sheet that labels each component of the phone. This has been done to be very aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
The frame itself is made of solid plastic i would have preferred dark wood if am being picky but the frame is not the main attraction it’s the deconstructed iPhone and the printed detail on the background makes up for what is a cheap-looking frame. You could in theory change the frame if you wanted to but I have no issues with it.
Overall, It’s been a while since I used my iPhone X so to have a deconstructed version of it in mint condition could provide a sense of nostalgia. I was also very impressed with the overall detail you get every part is labelled and the detail about the phone makes it very special.
This makes it the perfect gift for someone appreciative of all the tiny components that make an everyday device work. I have placed this in my work-from-home office and it is a statement piece on the wall.
Cost wise these are not cheap with the iPhone 3G costing £140 and the iPhone X costing £211. However, Grid Studio is offering a premium product without a premium price especially when you consider the mint condition device, high-quality print, solid frame and the time and effort put into the packaging.
If you are looking for a wonderful gift for the tech lover in the family Grid Studio is well worth checking out.
