Most users of android phones still do not know how to find their devices when missing or stollen. This is not really encouraging because, technology has made almost everything much easier. Today, i will be taking my time to talk and enlightening you on how to find a missing or stollen android device. Acording to Google, The easiest way to locate a lost Android handset is to use the Find My Device feature, which is built into your Android smartphone through Google Play Services. Some people still find it very difficult to follow those processes to find their device.
In todays world that our smartphone does almost all the jobs, its something very annoying and discouraging to loose them either by misplacement or been stollen. You can agree me when I say, our smartphone holds 89% of our private information (secret), and it should not be loose guarded.
However, there are many ways to find a missing android or iOS phones. If at any point, you happen to loose your iOS or Android device, you don’t have to panic because both iOS and Android device comes with a built-in technology that helps you track and retrieve your missing phone. For Android devices, your google account serve as the tracking or retrieving software while for the iOS device, your iCloud account serves thesame purpose. Both accounts enables you to remotely lock, wipe, make your missing device ring, and can also set up a special message to whosoever is in possession of it.
Whenever you come in contact with whoever finds or is in possession of your device, be so careful not to reveal your personal information such as your house address until you can trust the person. Futhermore, another was you can find your missing device is to type and search ” where is my phone” via Google. This will prompt the Google Service to automatically search for your device.
NOTE: It is advisable for all smartphone users to enable the find my device feature whenever you purchase a new Android phone. All you have to do is, goto settings (google settings), then security, and make sure the “remotely find my device” is turned on.
In a situation whereby you can’t succefully recover your device, you can always wipe the phone and that would help to prevent your personal informations from leaking. Your device needs internet connection in order to find the missing phone. Although, Google introduced what is called Factory Reset Protection (FRP) which was designed to prevent whoever has your phone from using it, wiping it, or even selling it. That is because when the person who is in possession of the phone tires to wipe the device, they will be asked to put in the last Google account that was registered on the device and when they cant provide that, the phone remains locked as far as that device is FRP certified.
