Here at What Gadget, you will notice we have been following Majority audio for some time now and have reviewed a number of their soundbars including the Bowfell Plus. They have also started to expand their range to kid’s headphones in the shape of the Majority superstar kid’s headphones. So it will be no surprise the latest product we review is a pair of desktop speakers with an accompanying subwoofer known as the DX20.
First Impressions
The DX20 is an affordable pair of computer speakers perfect for giving you some extra volume when on your daily zoom call. They are also excellent when it’s time to get your game on and you want more of an immersive experience. They also increase the sound experience when watching a film on your PC or Laptop.
The DX20 come with dual speakers, a subwoofer and a one-dial audio control it also comes with a headphone jack and is compatible with a PC/Laptop or even a Mac. The DX20 is simply a plug & play set up and all this for under £60 is incredible.
What you will also notice Majority continue their attempts to save the environment and have tried to be eco-friendly with all the packaging yes there is still some packaging that uses plastic but on the whole, they are doing an excellent job. If you require the user guide the box has a QR code you can scan which gives you access. They also plant a tree for every product bought which is a nice touch to help the future environment.
Design
The DX20 speakers are USB-powered meaning they can be powered up right away from your device the speakers run on 80W power to give you that powerful sound.
In terms of build quality, they offer a very clean and minimalistic design with that matt black finish they are elevated off the floor to help with the sound travel. You will notice the speakers have a slight tilt so the sound can be pointed in my direction more and as a result, give you more of an immersive experience. The Satellite speakers have that 3.5mm cable that will connect to the subwoofer which acts as the main unit.
You might find the cable a little short depending on where you locate the subwoofer so just keep that in mind when setting this system up it may be more beneficial to have the subwoofer on the desk with everything else.
Moving to the Subwoofer I thought it was well-built and looked very stylish alongside the satellite speakers and mini volume control. The subwoofer contains the 20-watt power amp and this is all powered by a hard-wired USB-A cable however there is no mains supply plug which you will need to supply separately or if you have a wall socket with a USB port just simply use that.
The rear of the subwoofer is where the magic happens you can adjust the EQ with 3 dials for the bass, treble and volume. Under the 3 dials you also have 4 buttons:
- Power/Mode
- Skip back a track
- Skip forward a track
- Play/Pause
The mode button lets you switch the input mode and song transport from either the Micro SD card or USB input. Next to the SD card slot are 2x 3.5mm inputs for the satellite speakers to be inserted.
Last but not least you get that small desktop control this is a large rotary knob for volume control and switching modes such as USB/SD card/ AUX or Bluetooth. The desktop control can be pressed to switch the sound system on or off and switch modes with ease. You will also notice the 3.5mm headphone socket if you wanted to listen to music via headphones. I loved this addition as it kept listening easy and if I wanted to decrease or increase the volume effortlessly I could. Plus being able to switch the device off via the small desktop control means I can place the subwoofer in a spot am not always going to need to reach.
Overall, The Majority DX20 offers a compact and versatile design that will add style to your overall desk set-up. The fact it’s compatible with any device due to the 3.5mm audio input makes it ideal for your laptop or something that won’t travel as much as a monitor in your room when gaming. The added Bluetooth connectivity means if you wanted to simply use these to pump out the jam and listen to some banging tunes you could do so with ease.
Audio Quality
The DX20 when set up will sit perfectly for a simple plug-and-play approach. The DX20 offers a dynamic 2.1 sound with an additional 5-inch subwoofer that is really the star of the show when it comes to audio However, before we get to the subwoofer the satellite speakers are raised off the base of your desk and have a slight angle which helps deliver a crisp and clear audio quality.
The Subwoofer is a down-firing subwoofer that is built with digital signal processing that produces a deep-tumping bass paired with an overall clear sound perfect when watching a film or killing the bad guys in your latest game.
What I also liked about this system is that at the rear of the subwoofer, you can adjust the bass and treble to suit your needs depending on the type of music you are listening to. I also found the mini volume control ideal just a quick twist and you can increase volume or give it a press and you will move through the modes such as Bluetooth, USB, SD Card & AUX so if you wanted to switch from Bluetooth to AUX this can be done with ease.
Verdict
The Majority DX20 offer a compact design that allows you to connect them to your PC/MAC/Laptop via either the AUX-in or USB options but also allows you to link your phone or tablet to them via Bluetooth. The connection modes are very easy to switch between the LED indicator will show which mode you are on I just wish there were different colours to show if you have had AUX, USB or SD Card in operation as currently, they all use the same colour purple.
The DX20 offers fantastic value for money at under £60 and sounds pretty good as well. The stylish design will really add something extra in terms of your gaming setup they have a very enjoyable bass that when gaming will add to the overall experience. I also found the thought in the design also makes a difference from the down-firing subwoofer to the angled satellite speakers Majority offer an excellent option here.
Also what makes this even more value for money is there is a 3-year warranty so you are protected if the worst was to happen.

You forgot to mention the extremely annoying loud Chinese voice every time you switch these speakers on and off! EXTREMELY annoying!!!
Sorry John I completely forget personally the voice did not cause me any offence but noted – So if Chinese voices do not tick your boxes for welcome voices these speakers are not for you.
