Oral hygiene in the UK is in a good place according to the oral health foundation and we as a country have made a lot of progress to reduce dental disease. However, some of the issues that still affect us include:
- 66% of us have viable plaque
- Almost 2 in 5 of us don’t have regular dental appointments.
- Almost 1 in 3 adults have tooth decay
- 1 in 3 adults have never flossed or cleaned interdentally

In this review, we cover the Oclean X10 which is the second electric toothbrush we have reviewed after the Oclean X Pro Elite which is the upgrade of the Oclean X10 that we are covering in this review.
Who is Oclean?
Oclean is an award-winning dental brand that originated in Shenzhen, China back in 2016 and has grown to the point where they are providing serious competition to the likes of Philips & Oral B. Oclean doesn’t just produce toothbrushes they also provide water flossers. The toothbrushes that Oclean produce suit all budgets and the replacement brush heads are very budget-friendly.
First Impressions
The Oclean X10 comes with a simple-to-use interface and a sleek design to match. The X10 comes in 3 colours Blue, Grey & Pink.
The brush has a nice feel in your hand and the bristles are very soft on your gums when brushing and the brush head has an angled tip that makes it easier to get around all of your teeth.
Cost/ Unboxing
The Oclean X10 is a smart toothbrush with a number of features that puts this toothbrush in the high-end electric toothbrush market. However, regardless of the features, this brush has which I will talk about in this review. The brush has a much more budget-friendly price tag at only £84.99.
The packaging makes the toothbrush feel expensive with a picture of the brush on the front and when you unpackage the toothbrush you get the following:
- Toothbrush handle
- Brush Head
- USB-C charging cable
- Magnetic wall mount
- Instruction manual
Design
The X10 model has an ergonomic design that fits in your hand. The brush handle itself has a refined texture that includes both anti-slip and anti-stain features. The brush head colours match the brush unit itself which adds to the elegant style of the whole toothbrush.
The brush also comes with a large display that allows you to switch to various brushing settings such as:
- Massage
- Sensitive
- Polish
- Clean
- White
You can switch between settings by pressing the first of 2 buttons located under the smart display. The bottom button allows you to change the pressure settings from 1 to 5 with 5 being the most sensitive setting.
Above the display is the power button that after one press powers up the display. A second press will start the brushing once the settings have been selected. When you start brushing you will get a 2 min timer and then when you have completed the brushing it will give you feedback on how you have brushed each area of your mouth which is shown in the form of an emoticon.
What you will notice when brushing, is the use of quadpacer technology which every 30 seconds will provide a small pause indicating to move to a new area of the mouth.
What I did not notice was a pressure sensor I did a test with some real pressure and nothing happened something that can not be said when using an Oral B toothbrush that has a red LED that flashes red when too much pressure is applied. This is something that needs looking into.
The design of the base of the brush has a cover that protects the USB-C port and this helps with the IPX7 rating meaning it will offer protection against water damage. Finally, this brush uses 40,000 RPM motor cleaning power and comes with WhisperClean 2.0 noise reduction technology <45dB and comes with 60-day battery life.
Performance
I have been using this brush twice a day for 2 weeks now and the brush works well and does not require an app to use the brush keeping things simple. What you do get is that colour display and brushing feedback.
The display does give you that timer to indicate how long to brush but the position of the display makes seeing how long you have left very tricky to use in my opinion I would like to have had an additional display on the side to indicate the time remaining.
In addition to the brushing settings, the brush also has levels 1 to 5 in terms of different intensity, one being a gentle clean and five being a powerful cleaning action. I found the best setting for me personally was on level three. I also found the brush heads are good quality and durable for the time you will be using them.
Finally, the X10 has a battery life that will last 60 days which will last that amount of time before you need to recharge. When it’s time to recharge that will take 3.5 hours to fully charge. The 60-day battery is also useful when going on holiday as you can fully charge before you go and will have no concerns when away.
Verdict
If you are moving from a normal toothbrush to a smart toothbrush then the Oclean X10 is a good option. It provides all the features needed from a smart toothbrush without the need to connect to your phone and use an app which I found a little annoying when reviewing the Oclean X Pro Elite. The X10 provides real-time brushing information and is the world’s first electric toothbrush with supplementary brushing reminders.
Which brush is worth getting the X10 or X Pro Elite?
The X10 has gone in a slightly different direction compared to the X Pro Elite first up there is no Bluetooth app instead you get real-time feedback on the large display.
The X10 also comes with a smart timer with 30-second pauses to indicate when you need to move to the next part of your mouth. The motor of the X10 is 40,000RPM which is a little lower than the X Pro Elite which has a 42,000RPM which will offer a more intense brush. The other key difference is the battery life the X Pro Elite only provides 30 days compared with the X10 which provides double the battery life.
So overall, would I buy the Oclean X10 this toothbrush provides one of the most practical smart toothbrushes on the market. It will educate the user on how to give your mouth a full clean without missing any areas. At £84.99 it’s budget-friendly as you would not have to buy another and with the replacement brushes only costing £19.99 for a pack of 4, it’s well worth considering as your next smart toothbrush.
