Introduction to Ocushield
If you’re like me and like to watch YouTube videos in bed as a way of relaxing before dropping off…STOP! I am here to introduce you to, Ocushield, a brand that is highlighting the importance of reducing or eliminating Blue Light which leads to those familiar symptoms of eye strain, headaches, blurry vision and fatigue.
Ok, so, I have to be honest, I have been aware of the effects of Blue Light for a while now, BUT, have never really looked into it as much as I should and also never really known what I could do to reduce the impact.
Now, let’s just address the elephant in the room, I am NO EXPERT, but what I do know is that I lay there at night trying to watch YouTube on my phone squinting with one eye closed because I am struggling to get to sleep…and refuse to use night mode on my phone because of that awful “orange” screen it gives you.
What if there were products that allows you to continue with great viewing experiences or create the right lighting ambiance in a room which fully protects you? Well…you’ve come to the right place, read on if you love your eyes.
The team at Ocushield, have done a phenomenal job so far to support with products that will look after your eyes and help you sleep better.

Ocushield was born from a competition that was won at university, by a now fully qualified Optometrist, Dhruvin. A very well respected and well-known figure now within the Consumer Electronics Industry, which is where I discovered the brand.
Dhruvin and the team have done an incredible job of bringing a wide variety of products to market which have rightly so, gained the attention of many leading businesses and public figures across the world…amazing work!
I am no medical expert, so please head over to their website to read more about why this is really important, Ocushield have a very comprehensive website that will allow you to learn more and understand the solutions available, as well as the products available to purchase directly.
If there is brand that focuses on “The Why” first and brings solutions to market, then Ocushield should most definitely be on your go-to brand list.
My experience of Oculamp
Back in the room now please, as the team have very kindly sent us products to experience, which I have done for well over 2 weeks now. It was really important for me to take this time to understand the solution. I was supplied with an Oculamp, Macbook Air Screen Protector and an iPad Screen Protector. In this review, most will be on the Oculamp.
I spend a lot of time in my home office, which is located in the “Loft Room” and currently the lighting is poor (unless sunny, with the sky lights), but generally I do struggle as when it starts to get dark, the room is not very well lit, and my main monitor starts to overpower my vision.
I have always struggled to focus, and I certainly do find myself becoming uncomfortable, not being able to concentrate because of the migraine style vision. So trying these products out properly was very important to me.
Oculamp – A is beautifully designed product, once fully charged, you can place it on your desk and choose from the three different lighting modes to suit what you need and light up particular areas around your workspace.
Key Feautures:
- Low blue light desk lamp with three settings, controlled by you
- A healthy desk lamp that’s portable (not just for desks)
- Our all day, all night light with touch-panel display
- Flexible base and charged by Micro-USB (included)
- 2000mAh Lithium Battery for 20 hours of light
- £1 donated to RNIB sight loss charity per order
- Design & developed by Optometrists in the UK
Oculamp, our all-day and all-night light.
- Cool white [5400k] / Super bright – For when you want your space at its brightest
- Neutral white [4200k] / Calm white – Kinder on eyes, better for long periods of work
- Warm white [3100k] / Night mode – To help you wind down with the evening
Oculamp provides form as well as function, it looks great on your desk or bedside table, wherever you need it, basically. It has the 3 light modes to suit time of day which ensures that your environment provides the correct lighting to look after your eyes and mind.
The flexible stand allows you to point and place the lamp from a 25-degree angle to 180-degree to suit you, which I found to be really useful. You can power it using the micro-USB cable provided then once fully charged, you benefit from the 2000mAh battery which then allows you to move the lamp around wire-free and provides up to 20hrs before needing to be recharged.
The convenient touch panel on the base is intuitive, simple touches to change the light mode required and a nice slider to adjust the brightness. It really is a well thought out product. My only desire for future development would be to update to Type-C USB and to maybe change some of the design aesthetics to give it a cleaner and even more sleek look, not that it doesn’t look great now.
For you budding desk setup folk out there, this would look great for your picture-perfect scenes.
I found myself using the lamp in many ways, mainly directing it onto my workspace over my keyboard and mouse which definitely helped with providing the light I needed. I also used the lamp for video calls, which acted quite well as a key light whilst not blinding you, because of the different modes and settings available to you.

Ocushield Anti Blue Light Screen Protectors
As I mentioned above, I was also fortunate enough to experience their screen protectors too.
Screen-time on your devices is pretty scary, if you add up exactly how much you’re using these devices, it really is important to understand why you need to protect your eyes from these blue light emissions.
I briefly touched on the night-modes that are available on most smart devices these days. The problem is, to achieve this, the screen switches to that awful orange display which is fine as it provides that “Warm White” that is required but really impacts the viewing experience.
This is where Ocushield again solves this problem. The product still gives you that all important protection, using tempered glass and a scratch-resistant coating but the key ingredient is the ability to block up to 90% of the blue light whilst maintaining the TRUE colours of the content you are consuming.
As with most, the pack comes with the key elements to help you install the protector.
I use my MacBook Air a lot, and the last 2 weeks it has been great. The anti-glare filter gives you a nice viewing experience and also benefits from a privacy filter too which is great once we can all get back out and about into the office or cafes etc.
Final Thoughts
I am sold, the Oculamp will continue to be part of my daily setup, and I will definitely be considering a 2ndone so that we have another available for use within the family, especially for my daughter, along with a screen protector too for her tablet, as she spends her spare time viewing and consuming content online so knowing her eyes are protected is key.
The screen protectors are great too, they have made a huge difference and I am 100% sure they will play a big part in improving my issues around focus, eye strain and productivity.
Ocushield also have glasses available for both Men and Women which are proving to be VERY popular, well worth checking out on their website, they look good too!
As always, thank you for reading.
