Who is OneOdio?
OneOdio is a Chinese audio brand that has been running for the last 10 years creating quality audio products but at affordable prices. They are a brand that has been producing products within the DJ & HiFI industries that most people will recognise the brand.
OneOdio is now available in 30 countries and has been very popular on Amazon in recent years.
First Impressions
The OneOdio A30 ANC headphones are a large over-ear pair of headphones that are designed for music fans. I found them very comfortable and the design did not really indicate a budget pair of headphones. For example, the design of the outer part of the earcups looks really cool like vinyl. I found the fit really did create some passive isolation which gave me a good feeling about the ANC which we will discuss later in the review.
Unboxing
The OneOdio A30 ANC Headphones does come with a selection of accessories such as:
- 1x USB-A to USB-C charging cable
- 1x 3.5mm AUX cable
- 1x Aeroplane Headphone Adaptor
- 1x User Manual
- 1x Drawstring pouch made from Faux leather
Design
The colour of the headphones is only available in black. The most noticeable feature about these headphones is the size of the earcups they cover the whole of your ear. The Headband also offers a wider and flatter design which gives the headphones that unique design as well as being comfortable for long periods. The headband also has lightly padded area that is dense and comes with a leather finish on the top of the band that is finished with the OneOdio logo engraved on the band.
The headbands can also be extended to fit larger heads due to the flat steel inner frame from 5 to 25 inches. We found the headband to be quite sturdy and flexible so no real risk these will break.
Moving to the earcups the reason the earcups are so large is for comfort but also OneOdio does this for another reason they spread the weight and pressure. Which results in a gentler fit and reduces the amount of pressure which eliminates discomfort for long periods of use.
The cups can be rotated 360 degrees and flexed 180 degrees and they can be tilted when you want to fold them into the carry bag when not in use making really portable.
Finally, the controls are shared across both ear cups. On the left cup, you find the volume buttons on either side of the power button which also doubles up for when receiving a call. Also on this cup is the 3.5mm aux port for when you want a wired connection.
The right ear cup does have that ANC switch with a small LED to indicate when the ANC is on. You will also find the USB-C charging port.
Battery Life
The A30 headphones offer 25 hours of playtime without ANC switched on and when the volume is at a normal level. If you listen to the headphones at a max volume that will drop down to 20 hours. If you decide to use the headphones with ANC switched on this then drops to 15 hours. This still gives you a decent amount of playtime especially considering the cost of these headphones.
When it’s time to charge up simply plug the USB-C port with the charging cable provided and after 5min of charge you get 2 hours of battery life and if you leave them on charge for 2 hours you will get a full charge.
Connectivity
It might not surprise you that the A30 connect to your phone via Bluetooth 5.0 and they performed very well in testing I never lost connection once. The A30 headphones also offer low latency audio which is great if you want to catch up with your latest Netflix episode or you might be an online gaming fan the video and audio will work side by side.
You can also use the headphones in a wired mode using the 3.5mm AUX cable this allows listening to music without the need for battery life. You can also use the aux cable to plug into the aeroplane adaptor for you to enjoy the in-flight entertainment. However, if you want to use the ANC or the other controls on the headphones you need a little battery life to do so.
Audio Quality
The most important factor of the review is the sound quality the A30 offers a 40mm driver that is compatible with both SBC & AAC codecs. This helps produce a well rounded audio quality with rich highs and mids without any noticeable harshness. The lows do offer a clean bass however, I would just have liked a bit more from the bass. Moving to the treble it’s slightly rolled off at the upper end and this might put some people off as the high frequencies are a little weak.
On a positive note, the vocals came through nice and clear. You also get a broad soundstage and is paired with the frequency reproduction and refers to the sense of space you get while listening.
ANC Mode
When you activate the ANC you will notice a slight change to the sound profile slightly this is perfectly normal. The soundstage does impact the bass just a little.
The ANC uses external microphones to detect ambient noise and helps eliminate unwanted noise. When testing the A30 they do reduce that unwanted noise to a degree but it’s not gone completely and is still noticeable for some listeners.
The OneOdio A30 also features CVC voice isolation which is for when you are taking calls. It offers a similar technology to what you get with ANC. However, CVC technology focuses on your voice and removes unwanted noise in the background. This helps your voice to be clearer when you are talking, unfortunately, it does not help the person at the other end so you may still incur issues hearing them clearly but this has nothing to do with the A30’s.
Verdict
If your looking for a pair of budget-friendly headphones these should be an option to consider. The audio quality considering the cost I felt was excellent but if you are a bass-heavy fan look elsewhere. The ANC technology works fairly well it did remove some of the unwanted noise just not 100% of that unwanted sound.
Considering the design they have really put comfort at the forefront and it shows I could wear these for long periods without any issues. The vinyl style on the earcups looks really good very attractive to music fans.
I found the battery life in testing performed very well with 25 hours of playback in normal settings just as the manufacture states. You also get a quick charging function as well for when you need a boost.
Overall, I was pleased with the OneOdio A30 the audio quality is the main selling point for these headphones and it showed. They also come with features such as ANC but it’s the sound that is the real selling point. At under £50 they make the perfect present for someone keeping to a budget.
