In this review, we are looking at the OneOdio Studio HiFi that is designed for wired connection perfect for when you’re at home and want to chill out with some Hi-Fi quality streaming music from the likes of Tidal. They are also useful for those who try their hand at mixing music or even gamers who stream their performance.
Now you might think for good quality wired headphones this might hit you in the wallet well OneOdio have created the studio HiFi that will provide you change from £40 costing £36.99 from Amazon.
First Impressions
The OneOdio Studio HiFi are a pair of closed-back wired headphones that on first impressions look the part and are very comfortable but in terms of accessories they are very basic as you might expect.
The audio quality won’t give the likes of Sure or Sennheiser any concerns but for the price point if you go in with low expectations they won’t disappoint.
Unboxing
As mentioned the accessories are very basic just like the OneOdio A71 for example. You just get a simple carry bag for when you are not using the headphones. You also get 2 cables – One cable has 2x 3.5mm ends and the other cable has 3.5mm on one end and 6.35mm on the other end.
The 3.5mm cable can be used on many devices such as a PC or mobile phone with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The 6.3mm jack is generally more used for keyboards, amplifiers etc.
Design
The design of the Studio HiFi is similar to that of the A71 model. The headband is made of ABS plastic that comes with an inner metal stip that adds to the durability of the band. The band is wide and allows for a good distribution of the weight across your head that can also be adjusted if required. The band also comes with a thick foam pad to add to the level of comfort considering the band itself can be a bit provide some strong tension that might put some users off.
Moving to the earcups they are very wide and with heavy padding around the edges of the caps that aids with the fit. They also allow you to pivot 15 degrees which also adds to the comfort as you will get a great fit and seal that aids the ANC and prevents any bleed-through of the audio.
The backs of the earcups are identical to that of the A71 model with a decorative stainless steel ring running around the outside and the logo in the middle surrounding that black vinyl finishes around the outside.
At the bottom of the ear cups, you have a 6.35mm audio jack on the left cup and a 3.5mm audio jack on the right cup. You will notice there are no controls on these headphones so for volume or track control you will have to use the device you connect them to in order to adjust the tracks or volume which might annoy some users.
In testing, I found the headphones brought me some durability concerns especially with the plastic used in the design. They are not flexible at all but you do get a long warranty just in case the worst happens.
You will also notice there is no battery life as they work off you connecting them to the audio device you want to start listening to. So you could say the lack of battery means you can use these for as long as you want without the worry of the battery life running out.
The audio cord is designed to connect to any device hence the need for two tips 6.35mm and 3.5mm cable. So if the device uses one end you connect the headphones using the other end and regardless of the connection, it works just fine. The other cable is the shorter cable that has a little in-line fob that has 3 buttons on it and they control the volume, answer and reject calls and also use the voice assistant if connected to your phone.
Audio Quality
As you might expect with headphones like these it’s all about the audio and they pack a punch with 50mm drivers which ultimately provide increased volume.
When testing them listening to a wide range of music they provided a rich, textured audio quality regardless of what I was listening to. The highs are clear and the lows have really deep and punchy bass. The mids do provide plenty of space and don’t get squeezed out of the overall sound. Put all of that together and songs like “Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody” gives the listener fantastic vocals as well as a wide soundstage.
If you are lucky to listen to a stereo recording or watch a film you really do get a real sense of space. The Studio HiFi headphones do a good job of blocking out background noise the ANC works really well and blocks out a lot of unwanted noises.
Verdict
If you’re looking for an affordable pair of studio headphones that are basic in design and don’t hit you with a ton of features and focus on the audio then the OneOdio Studio HI-Fi are well worth considering.
The audio quality at this price point you will struggle to find anything better. If your looking for negatives the lack of controls may annoy some users as well as the lack of Bluetooth connection means they are less portable. The build with the cheap plastic does provide some concerns in regards to durability but with the warranty, those concerns do fly away.
If you can look past the negatives mentioned they are an affordable and comfortable pair of wired headphones ideal for Hi-Fi quality music.
