With most of us having multiple devices especially if you’re an Apple fan you will have your phone, iPad, MacBook, Airpods and other USB-C devices you need something that is going to provide you with assistance to charge multiple devices on the go at speed.
In this review, we test out the QDOS PowerCube 45W Trio which is designed for Apple users primarily but also allows you to charge any other device with that USB-C charge port which is most things now even the new iPhone 16 range.
Who are QDOS?
They are a UK-based technology company that has been designing premium mobile phone accessories since 2006. QDOS has committed to sustainability and their products use recycled raw materials to reduce its carbon footprint.
Unboxing
The PowerCube Trio 45W comes with a 45W (EU plug) PowerCube dual-port USB-C power adapter. You also get a USB-C to lightning cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable. Perfect for those with an older iPhone. The fact it comes with the EU Plug was a slight issue considering am based in the UK, but a suitable travel adaptor solves this small issue.
First Impressions/Design
The PowerCube 45W Trio is a dual port USB-C power adapter that really does smash it out of the park. The ability to charge one device at 45W speed is very impressive but the fact this device offers dual charging capability is what is the start of the show with one port providing 25W and 20W outputs. This allows you to charge your iPad & iPhone in record time.
Price wise coming in at £69.99 I was impressed considering the charging speed it’s a great bit of tech that is designed for Apple users at heart and can charge an iPhone three times faster than other adapters on the market.
The key features of this device include:
- Charges at 45W when charging 1 device
- Charges 2 devices simultaneously at 20W &25W high speed charge
- Programmable Power Supply
- GaN Technology
- Optimised for Apple Devices
Now the QDOS PowerCube Trio comes with two 1.2m cables which have the following ports:
- USB-C to Lighting
- USB-C to USB-C
The cables support Power Delivery 3.0 & QuickCharge 4.0+ enabling high-speed charging with a max of 60W. The cables are reinforced preventing breakage and offering a longer life and are MFI-certified. The cables provided allow both Andriod & iPhone users to charge using the same plug something that is very welcomed in my house. This charger even allows you to charge a USB-C laptop that requires less than 45W but make sure you check the charging requirements before using this to charge your laptop.
Safety Features
The QDOS PowerCube Trio comes with a Programmable Power Supply (PPS) & GaN technology to keep you safe when charging your devices. The PPS technology allows the adapter to adjust its output to provide the most efficient charge possible for the connected device. This technology makes sure you get exactly what you need no more, no less.
As for GaN technology which stands for Gallium Nitride this is what makes this charger stand out from a very busy market. This innovation allows for improved energy efficiency and also provides better heat dissipation and a more compact housing than rival charging adapters.
Verdict
If you have an array of tech that needs to be kept topped up when you are on the move the QDOS PowerCube Trio 45W takes charging to the next level it provides speed, efficiency and durability designed for most people’s charging needs. All at the same provided in a compact package.
The inclusion of a programmable power supply gives the charger the ability to provide optimum charge to connected devices and GaN technology provides that safety factor that is vital in a product like that. The quality and flexibility of this product make it a fantastic charger for users who need an efficient charging solution.
