With the lockdown easing, many of us will soon be returning to the office and travelling to see clients again. So, the need for a laptop backpack may be something to consider. The market leader in this field is Targus and in this review, we have been sent the Urban Explore laptop backpack.
This bag is available for £63.99 and is available in two colours Blue or Grey and in this review, we were sent the Blue version and this back is stacked with compartments to keep things safe everything from your laptop to your note pad, Wireless charger for when that iPhone starts to lose its battery life. In fact, this bag holds up to a 24-litre capacity meaning you can carry just about everything you need for your trip to work.
The bag can also be used when we can go on a short European trip where you will not need to bring a suitcase. The bag is lightweight at only 0.99kg and the size of this bag is 38.7 x 2.5 x 26.5 cm. This bag is ideal for a laptop up to a 15.6-inch laptop. I have both a 15-inch work laptop and a smaller Chromebook for personal use and they both fit in the bag without any issues.
The bag has two main compartments the first is where you will keep your laptop that has a nice Velcro flap to keep the laptop hidden away and nice and safe. Also, in that section of the bag, you have a nice amount of space to store even a second laptop (I know right)
The second compartment is split into 3 zipped compartments perfect for keeping things such as your laptop charge cable, wireless charger, wireless headphones basically anything you wanted to take with you on your travels.
Moving to the front of the bag you have 2 smaller compartments for you to store things you want easy access to without having to open the two main compartments of the bag.
You also have 2 mesh water bottle pockets on each side of the bag ideal if you are going to use this bag when cycling to work.
Also on the front of the bag is two Velcro utility straps that provide that extra storage on the front of the bag ideal if you need to carry a postal tube while cycling to the office great for if you are carrying plans for a client.
Finally moving to the back of the bag you have two adjustable padded shoulder straps and a chest strap to allow for weight distribution which will prevent back pain.
Now here what makes this bag stand out first up the material used to make the bag has water repellent fabric which is ideal when you consider how unpredictable UK weather if you have your laptop in the bag the last thing you want is for it to get wet.
The other bit of technology used in this bag is the Air X Flow which maximises the circulation of air between your back and the backpack. This is a nice use of technology when the bag is on your back and yours cycling as who wants a sweaty back not this guy. The bag also has loops that you can fit a bike light to be seen when road riding.
Verdict
So, if you are looking for a backpack for the trips to the office or for trips away when you don’t need to take a massive bag the Urban explorer is a great option with plenty of storage and that water repellent fabric and the Air X Flow technology this back keeps your positions nice and safe and prevents you from getting very hot and sweaty. I really liked the chest strap, and the mesh water bottles make this bag ideal for the worker who likes to get around and have that office inside your bag while cycling to each destination and the urban explorer offers just that.
The Targus Urban Explorer Laptop bag is available for £69.99
