Tech experts at FatJoe have scoured TikTok to reveal some of the best TikTok voice assistant hacks to make your experience easier.
1. Siri can tell you where you parked your car – 1.1M views
We’ve all done it, parked up and had trouble remembering where we left our car. Thankfully, Siri can help you remember when that time comes. You can then pick between double tap or triple tap to activate a shortcut. TikTok user Faisal (BD i-tech) received over 90.1k likes on the tutorial where they asked Siri to remember where the car is parked, and then later when it asked for directions to the car again. Siri provides walking directions to your car’s location through the Apple Maps feature.
2. Remove ad and notification pop-ups from your Echo show – 610.6k views
The display on the Amazon Echo Show often is filled with news, ads and notifications. TikTok creator Braylea Smith shared a handy tip to make this a more aesthetically pleasing feature in your home. All you need to do is go to settings, go to home content and turn off all options aside from photo highlights. This allows your device to show photos, and you can curate the images shown to fit the look and feel of your room.
3. Make your Alexa whisper back – 753k views
Amazon Alexa devices have some secret features that some users may not know about, creator Moomba Tech showed his TikTok followers some useful Alexa hacks. If you ask Alexa to enable Adaptive Volume and ‘Whisper Mode’ you can whisper instructions to your voice assistant, and the response will match the tone in which you’ve done so. Super useful for using your device when you don’t want to make too much noise!
4. Use Siri to screenshot and send – 156.1k views
If you’re using your iPhone or iPad hands-free – you can use Siri to screenshot to capture media you’re watching and immediately send to a contact. Want to screenshot a video to your friends? Just ask Siri to screenshot and send to their contact name, and Siri can do this in one swift automation.
5. Turn your Google Nest into a translation device – 1.5k views
One of the most ingenious uses for a Google Nest, it can use Google Translate software in real time to listen to two people speaking and translate in real-time. Instructing your Nest to “act like a German interpreter” will begin interpreting spoken language and translating it on the device. TikTok user southwestrdrc posted about this hack, but her video only has a small 1.5k views. Whilst this feature isn’t expansive of all languages – it’s a handy trick that some viewers will be missing.
6. Using Siri to search your camera album – 3.2k views
If storage isn’t an issue, many of us have photos on our iPhone photo gallery stretching back years. TikTok creator Kathleen in Mississippi showed her 26k followers a hack that allows Siri to search for specific locations or timeframes for your photos for you to find specific photos fast. Asking Siri to show photos from a specific location or time, will jump directly to your camera roll to save time scrolling through hundreds or thousands of your photos.
7. Google Assistant can you remember where you left things – 1.2M views
Asking your Google Assistant on your smartphone or Nest device to ‘remember I left my keys in the third kitchen drawer’ will bank the information until you need to find them next. Indonesian TikToker Sungguh Penasaran demonstrated how your device can be asked at a later date “Where’s my item?” and it’ll remember for you. For those constantly misplacing things, utilising your device can be handy even if you don’t need the item until months later!
