Trust has gained a 4-star Clevergreen rating for sustainability. So buying this product will please those looking for greener products. They continue the sustainability in the build with PCR ABS plastic which is durable and moulded to create a tough and versatile keyboard & mouse.
Design
When you think of the keyboard most of us use a keyboard for long periods of time and a risk of this is serious wrist strain. This keyboard helps prevent that issue with its ergonomic three-stage design process, the keyboard features an integrated wrist rest to keep both hands positioned correctly for long periods.
You will also notice the mouse is an ambidextrous mouse which also helps in terms of ergonomics. The design promotes a neutral hand position to reduce strain.
What you will find in the Trezo comfort keyboard and mouse is the key feature of how quiet the keyboard is and that is the standout feature. The fact this keyboard is silent when used in the work environment has a real benefit as it would reduce how much you disrupt those around them. In addition to the keyboard not making any noise the mouse is also silent due to the soft action buttons that make both the keyboard and mouse ideal for everyday use regardless of being in the office or working from home.
Let’s take a closer look at both the keyboard & mouse.
The keyboard and even the mouse scream minimal and compact in terms of design which will fit nicely on most desks. Trezo’s comfort keyboard is a full-size keyboard with 110 keys and is water resistant thanks to the film underneath the plastic top plate designed to protect the circuit board from spills. If you did spill a glass of water or coffee the film acts as a canopy rolling spilt liquids down the film and out of the keyboard drainage holes. The comfort keyboard measures up to 45cm in length and 18cm in depth. It’s also lightweight at only 666 grams.
The keyboard and mouse work simultaneously off the same 2.4Ghz dongle so when you plug the dongle into your computer they will both connect at once. You need to use both the keyboard and mouse together as they do not come with separate dongles.
The top left corner of the keyboard is 6 dedicated buttons for media controls to manage music and videos ideal for the lunch break. The keyboard also comes with a useful switch that will power off both the keyboard and mouse to preserve battery life when not in use.
All of the keycaps are made from a single shot ABS plastic that is coated with silkscreen printed legends which means all the keys have been UV cured which makes them more durable than standard pad printing. It’s not double-shot plastic which would have provided extra durability but understandable at this price point.
If you flip the keyboard over the short feet risers elevate the top of the keys to 3.5cm high or you can increase using the taller feet risers to elevate the keyboard to 4cm high. The bottom row remains at the same level of 2cm regardless of how high you elevate the keyboard. The keyboard also has a cover on the back where you need to install 2x AA batteries to power up the keyboard.
Moving to the mouse it has a soft touch matte finish with a 3.5cm high soft hump towards the back end of the mouse. The mouse is 5.5cm wide at the front and 6.5cm wide at the back. The mouse is 8cm in length making it a small mouse ideal for medium-sized hands.
The mouse comes with 4 buttons – Left & right click buttons, a rubberized scroll wheel with a centre button and a DPI button with a loud actuation. The left/right click buttons and scroll wheel centre buttons have a subdued switch. The cursor speed is adjustable to 1000, 1400 and 1800 DPI and this allows the user to select a comfortable pace without having to adjust your operating system settings. The mouse also has a small cover on the base which allows you to insert a 1x AA battery to power up the mouse. The dongle is also stored in the mouse for storage.
Battery life/Connectivity
The keyboard requires 2x AA batteries and with an average of 6 hours of daily use, the keyboard battery life should last up to 4 years which is quite impressive. The battery life in the mouse will last for a full year before you have to replace the single AA battery. The keyboard and mouse as mentioned are connected using the provided 2.4Ghz wireless dongle that provides a range of 10 meters in direct line of sight.
The keyboard and mouse combo is compatible with Windows 10 & 11 and can also be on macOS and ChromeOS. It can therefore be used by a number of different users from programmers to office workers and is ideal for content creators like myself you can even use it for gaming to a degree.
Pros & Cons
Am going to get the negative aspects out the way first I would have preferred double-shot keycaps as they are more durable. I would have also liked the keyboard and mouse to be connected via Bluetooth as well as the 2.4 GHz dongle this just provides a second connection option as if you lost the dongle the keyboard and mouse would be useless.
You will also notice some of the media buttons are not compatible depending on the operating system you use. If you are using the keyboard for gaming it will perform well unless it’s a shooting game you are playing as the lowest DPI is just 1000 DPI and the optical sensor is not designed for flicking fast action.
Moving on to the pros first up is the cost at £34.99 you get both the keyboard and mouse which is excellent value for money if you are sticking to a budget. I was also impressed that the keyboard was spill resistant meaning that a cup of coffee or glass of water will spill by mistake and won’t break the keyboard.
I was also pleased to see that Duracell batteries are included and they offer a long battery life compared to other brands even with 6 hours of use per day expect up to 4 years of battery life from just two batteries! The keyboard also integrates a master switch to turn off both the keyboard and mouse to prevent the batteries from draining and being powered up when not in use.
Last but not least I was also impressed that trust has provided that built-in wrist rest to prevent you from keyboard-related injuries. The star of the show is the silent actuation of the keyboard this is ideal for working in an office and you do not want to be that person making noisy keyboard sounds.
Verdict
The Trezo comfort keyboard & mouse are a nice-looking combo for an entry-level solution. If you have used a premium keyboard prior you will feel this keyboard will have a cheap feel due to the lightweight plastic build and rattling noise from the media buttons that need a better installation.
That aside the Trezo comfort keyboard and mouse set comes with an innovative design and uses 85% recycled ABS materials so you’re saving the environment with this purchase. The long battery life is a big bonus as is the silent typing and spill-resistant build and focus on ergonomics. If your looking for a new keyboard and mouse combo this set will do the job and not cost the earth either.
