Our phones have become an important part of our lives, keeping us connected to loved ones, podcasts, TV shows and social media. But have you ever thought about what your phone colour choice reveals about your personality?
It seems Brits are looking to add a splash of colour to their device, with search terms* on ‘Blue’ phones increasing by 73%, while ‘Purple’ phone search terms have increased by 28% YoY, and ‘Pink’ phone search terms have increased by 27% YoY.
To help you find out what your phone colour choice really says about you, Mobile Phones Direct (part of the AO family), has enlisted the help of environmental psychologist and wellbeing consultant, Lee Chambers, who has pulled together his top observations on what your colour choice says about your personality and values.
“Red is the colour of energy and passion and is a vibrant signal of a personality who loves to communicate and make a statement. It also has very traditional undertones, being the most notable colour to convey importance, and this compact red model certainly packs a punch when on display.”

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE in Cloud Orange
“This wonderful shade of orange symbolises a gentle warmth that is very welcoming and is likely to be in the hand of somebody who is a pleasure to be around. This particular shade is one of balance and harmony, and while not as vibrant as some shades, it has a natural richness that expresses both fun and seriousness when the light shines on it.”

“Gold will always carry its strong symbolism of winning and wealth, long a precious metal of choice. The floating gold tone on this phone is less flashy and really brings through the grounding shades of brown with the light-hearted nature of yellow. The owner who chooses this colour for their device is likely to have some of that competitive streak and be more compassionate and wise than you might expect.”

“A wonderfully refreshing shade of green, you can’t help but feel at ease looking at it. Green is the colour we can see the most shades of and is a colour that brings an ambience of peace and serenity. Expect the owner to resonate calming vibes and steer clear of drama. And with green being the colour associated with growth, money and envy, maybe just seeing this phone in the flesh might make you wish you had one.”

Samsung Galaxy S21 5G in Violet
“With its pastel feels, this shade of violet lacks some of the punch of bold purple but loses none of the regal elegance that purple so often confers. An owner of this handset will likely be thoughtful and emotionally intelligent and are likely to be creative by nature. But don’t be fooled by first appearances, as purple is a colour that always has a veil of mystery and magic, and this is probably also true about the person who owns it.”

“An intense blue that feels like you could fall into, it inspires calm confidence and a feeling of stability. The owner of this phone is likely to be reliable, thoughtful and not overly excitable. While not natural risk-takers, they step up when needed and deliver in a composed manner. This shade of blue really inspires trust and somebody who doesn’t shout, but when they speak, they are heard.”
